Best Robot Mowers for Small Yards

Best robot mower for a small yard: every published model rated for 0.25 acre or less, sorted by price, with area, slope and noise, plus how to size your lawn.

How to size a mower to your lawn

Makers state a maximum lawn size in acres. One acre is 43,560 square feet, so 0.25 acre is about 10,890 square feet, roughly a 104 by 104 foot square. To size yours, multiply the length of your mowable area by its width in feet and divide by 43,560. For odd shapes, split the lawn into rectangles and add them up. Our how to choose guide covers measuring in more detail.

Then leave headroom. A stated maximum is the most a mower is rated for, not a target. Several of our small-yard models are rated for 0.12 to 0.15 acre, so a quarter-acre lot with house, drive and beds taken out may still fit a smaller unit, but a lawn near the limit is a reason to step up one size.

This is a guide, not an engine-ranked list. We do not give these models scores or ranks here. The table is simply sorted by price, using the stated spec.

What stands out

The bottom of the table is Anthbot. The Anthbot M5 at $679 and the M9 at $699 are the two cheapest, and both list a 45% slope rating. The M9 covers 0.25 acre against 0.12 for the M5, so it is the better pick for a full quarter-acre for $20 more.

Slope is where the table splits. Most models state 45%. The Navimow i105 and the Worx WR310.1 state 30%, and the eufy models state 32% and 40%. The Dreame A3 AWD 1000 states 80%, the highest here, at $1,399.99. If your small yard is steep, see robot mowers on slopes and the AWD ranking.

Noise is close across the table. The eufy models are the quietest at 56 dB, the Ecovacs at 57 dB, and the Anthbot and Navimow units at 58 to 59 dB. The Dreame is loudest at 62.8 dB. The quiet mower ranking goes further.

Navigation differs too. The Navimow i105 and the Anthbot Genie models list an RTK antenna, which needs open sky. The Dreame A3 AWD 1000 and the Anthbot M5 LiDAR use LiDAR with no antenna. The Navimow i206 and i210 AWD and the Worx WR310.1 are RTK plus vision with no antenna listed as needed. See wire-free mowers explained for what each means at install.

Small yard, small budget

If price decides it, robot mowers under $1,000 is the list to read. Above $1,000, the table adds the Navimow i210 AWD, the Worx WR310.1, the Dreame A3 AWD 1000 and the two eufy models.

Our top picks

The best-scoring model in each list. Scores compare models within one list, so 100 means best there on every point, not perfect.

Scores reward a low price, a big lawn size, steep slope ratings and long warranties, all as the makers state them. They don't measure how well a mower maps, avoids obstacles or handles your lawn, so use them to shortlist, then read the model pages.
