Ranking
9 models, best first. Each bar compares a model with the rest of this list: the best on every point would score 100.
Scores reward a low price, a big lawn size, steep slope ratings and long warranties, all as the makers state them. They don't measure how well a mower maps, avoids obstacles or handles your lawn, so use them to shortlist, then read the model pages.

How the score works
Weights: max lawn size 30, max slope 25, lowest price 25, warranty 20
Weights
- 30
Max lawn size, higher is better.
- 25
Max slope, higher is better.
- 25
Lowest price, lower is better.
- 20
Warranty, higher is better.
Steps
- 1
Each criterion is scaled from 0, the worst of these 9 models, to 1, the best. For lowest price, lower is better, so the lowest value scores 1.
- 2
Each scaled value is multiplied by its weight, and the results are added up to a score out of 100. Models with the same score share a rank.
- 3
A model is ranked only if it has its own page here and a value for every criterion (lowest price $1,000 or less).
Who is ranked
This list covers every model with a current price of $1,000 or less. Nine models qualify, from $679 to $999.99. Each also needs a stated mowing area, a stated maximum slope and a warranty in years. Area carries the most weight, then slope and price at equal weight, then warranty. Slope is the maker's stated maximum, not a tested result. For a wider budget, see the list under $1,500.
What stands out
Anthbot holds the top five places. The Anthbot Genie 3000 ranks first at $899. It rates for 0.74 acres, far more than anything else at this price, with a 45 percent slope rating and a 3 year warranty. The Anthbot M9 is second at $699 and rates for 0.25 acres. The Anthbot M5 is the lowest price in the whole data set at $679, but it rates for just 0.12 acres.
The Anthbot Genie 600, Genie 1000 and Genie 3000 need an RTK antenna, so budget space for it. The Segway Navimow i206 AWD is the only all-wheel drive model here at $899, with a 45 percent slope rating and 0.15 acres. The Ecovacs GOAT O1000 RTK is last at $999.99 because of a 1 year warranty and 0.25 acres.
How to use this list
Match the acre rating to your lawn, then check navigation. Most models here use RTK GPS with a camera, which needs open sky. The RTK robot mower list and our guide to RTK vs LiDAR vs camera cover what that means. If your yard is hilly, the slope guide explains how to read slope ratings.
